Call us marketing nerds, but we love seeing what other companies are doing with their marketing and reading in-depth articles about specific topics. We hope this recap inspires you to think more creatively about your business’ marketing, so without further ado, here are some of the best articles we read this month:
If you’re in the US, you might think of Butterball’s Turkey Talk Line as a great free resource for help in the kitchen around Thanksgiving. But it’s also one of the longest-running marketing campaigns related to the Thanksgiving holiday. With the holidays being celebrated a little differently this year, the hotline has changed too, and we really enjoyed this look into their operations.
The day after Thanksgiving (today!) is Black Friday, and this year Facebook has launched a new campaign to support Black-owned businesses: #BuyBlack Friday. Rachel Hawk is the marketing manager behind the campaign, and she recently shared why the company got behind this idea and the challenges she faced getting it launched.
The US elections are over, except for a major runoff election in the state of Georgia. Ad Age has been tracking the ad spend going on in the state, and it’s topped $272 million so far. Here’s a breakdown of who’s spending what and where.
We’re huge fans of using customer research to inform marketing and business decisions, and now there’s scientific evidence that it works. A group of European researchers ran a trial on 116 early-stage startups and found that startups who formed hypotheses and tested them were more likely to drop bad ideas, pivot away from pitfalls and generate more revenue.
Last but not least, we were featured in Business Insider alongside other female founded-businesses. Check out this article on female founders, and the short interview they did with our Founder & CEO, Ada Chen, and some of the marketing learnings that other founders share.
